The diversity and inclusivity of this company are evident in its workforce of approximately 9,000 employees, who bring varied backgrounds, skills, and expertise to the organisation.

Through initiatives like volunteering programs and the Staff Foundation, ANZ takes pride in making substantial contributions to its communities.
A history of growth and merger success spanning over 180 years
In 1840, the Union Bank of Australia (UBA), a British financial institution based in London, partnered with a New Zealand company to offer banking services to settlers. UBA opened a branch in Petone, later moving to Wellington.
The merger of UBA and the Bank of Australasia in 1951 resulted in the establishment of the Australian and New Zealand Bank (ANZ). In 1970, this bank expanded by merging with the English, Scottish and Australian Bank in London, forming the ANZ banking group.
In 1976, the company shifted its corporate offices to Melbourne, and branches in New Zealand were merged. The head office was established in Wellington in 1983. In December 2002, ANZ Banking Group acquired the national bank from Lloyds TSB, eventually merging under the ANZ brand in 2012.

If you use business tools to generate income, this entity offers coverage for loss or damage to essential items. The indemnity value, up to $2,000, will be paid in the event of fire, lightning, explosion, or theft involving forcible entry or physical violence.
The payment is made out of the contents sum insured, providing support for those who rely on their tools for their livelihoods. An optional benefit, the 'Business tools extension,' is also available if you require a higher limit for your business tools coverage.
ANZ contents insurance extends coverage to credit and debit cards as well. In case of unauthorised use due to loss or theft, you may be reimbursed up to $1,000 for financial loss, provided that certain conditions are met, and the loss cannot be recovered elsewhere.

If you require storage for your contents, the storage of contents extension is available. By seeking approval from ANZ before storing the contents, you can receive coverage for loss or damage caused by fire, lightning, explosion, or theft involving forcible and violent entry or actual or threatened physical violence to the storage facility staff.

ANZ content insurance claims made easy in three simple steps
With ANZ's commitment to providing comprehensive coverage for your belongings, making a contents insurance claim has never been easier. These are the steps you need to follow
- Get in touch with ANZ and inform them about the incident. Keep your policy information ready, which can be found in the documents section of your internet banking. The support team will assist you throughout the claims process, guiding the steps and any required paperwork.
- After submitting your claim, ANZ will assess it and inform you if any additional information is needed. Once they’ve all the necessary details, a decision will be reached within two business days.
- Once the assessment is complete, a consultant will contact you to inform you about the outcome of your claim. They’ll also discuss the next steps that need to be taken.
ANZ contents insurance exclusions
ANZ contents insurance has certain exclusions that you should be aware of.
- Mechanical or electronic breakdown or failure, including arcing in lighting or heating elements.
- Contents that are usually away from your home or being moved, except under specific benefits.
- Loss or damage caused by insects or vermin (except possums).
- Damage caused by computer viruses and damage to the software.
- Loss or damage during cleaning, repair, renovation, or restoration, except for the property that has undergone the process.
- Deliberate damage by people living in your home, gradual damage, corrosion or rust, hydrostatic pressure, non-compliance with laws or regulations, loss from certain events in the first 72 hours of the policy, structural changes without prior agreement, unsecured outboard motors, loss or damage caused by vibration, wear and tear and defects in design.
Stay protected even after a claim
After a claim for loss or damage, your contents insurance policy continues, but with reduced cover. The reduction is equivalent to the value of the loss or damage. ANZ will restore the coverage in two situations: when the contents are repaired or replaced, or when a payment is made for the loss or damage.
ANZ must confirm that the contents sum insured on your schedule is an estimate of the replacement value. If your claim is for the total loss of your contents, this condition doesn’t apply, and the policy will end.
Settle claims in pairs or sets
ANZ settles claims fairly, compensating for specific items in pairs or sets. Furniture repairs are limited to damaged items, and coverage is withheld if items are not repaired or replaced.
For rented homes, only indemnity value is paid for contents. Watches and jewellery receive up to 50% of replacement value if not repaired or replaced. Valuables must be stored in a locked safe, or coverage is voided. Damaged floor coverings are replaced only in affected rooms.
