ASB has a heart for people
ASB cares about the financial expertise of New Zealanders, and they firmly believe that transparency is the key to unlocking opportunities. The company recognises the interconnectedness of commercial, environmental, and social concerns within the context of evolving community expectations. Their people set them apart. More than 1.3 million personal, business, and rural customers choose ASB as their trusted banking partner.
The company’s operations are grounded in core values such as integrity, passion, courage, and unison. ASB believes that you can achieve your purpose by living your values daily. Their values define who they are, and the company takes great pride in this fact.
A culture of support and active involvement
ASB provides a wide variety of banking solutions, including personal and business accounts, loans, mortgages, and investment options. Their insurance services, such as health and life insurance, offer you financial protection and peace of mind.
They prioritise innovation and convenience that allow you to manage your finances easily through online and mobile platforms. You can depend on their personalised assistance and support for all your financial needs.
Taking care of your health priorities is easy
The escalating expenses associated with healthcare are increasingly straining the public system's capacity to effectively diagnose and treat non-urgent medical conditions. As a result, access to treatment may be restricted, and individuals relying on public healthcare must meet certain eligibility criteria in order to receive care and be added to the waiting list.
With ASB health insurance, you’re assured of comprehensive coverage for a wide range of medical conditions. You enjoy access to a plethora of medical services. You can also consolidate your banking and insurance services on a single platform. This makes handling your financial matters much easier.
If you're uncertain about the extent of coverage you require, an ASB representative will provide expert advice and customise a solution to suit your specific circumstances.
ASB Services
ASB health insurance gives you a choice from two comprehensive packages: ASB Private Health and ASB Private Health Plus.
Although both options offer comprehensive coverage, ASB Private Health Plus includes additional benefits.
Both these plans offer cover for surgery and hospitalisation, as well as cancer treatment and related diagnostics, but they vary in their excess options. These two plans enable prompt treatment of medical conditions and you can choose your medical provider.
You also get:
- An unlimited benefit for surgeries within reasonable charges. Specialists and tests from six months before the event to six months after surgery are included.
- Diagnostic test cover up to $200,000.
- Hospitalisation coverage to a maximum of $500,000 annually.
- Access to overseas treatment regimes.
- A cancer care benefit that includes chemotherapy and support services up to $500,000 annually.
- Should you receive treatment in Australia, the same charges payable in New Zealand will apply according to your maximum coverage for the specific benefit.
- Treatment in other countries qualifies for 80% coverage according to policy benefits.
- In cases where specific treatments aren’t available locally, you get coverage of $30,000 per year to get the necessary treatment overseas.
- In the event of treatments for which the waiting period locally is more than six months, you can make use of international options. The same coverage will apply.
ASB’s more comprehensive Private Health Plus package has added benefits that include:
- Enhanced coverage for specialist consultations up to $10,000 annually after a two-year waiting period.
- Eligibility for a routine health screening allowance every three years after maintaining continuous cover for three years.
- A pregnancy, maternity, and infertility benefit of $100,000 after a waiting period of two years.
- One health screening allowance of $500 once in three years, subject to a three-year waiting period. AIA Vitality members get $750.
Consult your policy document for a detailed summary of all your policy benefits.
When you opt for ASB health insurance, you also have the opportunity to enrol in AIA Vitality, an innovative programme that prioritises your health. Claiming from ASB health insurance is quick and easy
- Online: Complete the online form thoroughly. Assessments are typically completed within 3 to 5 working days.
- You can also download the printable claim form which will take 5 to 10 days to be assessed.
It’s important to take note of the following
- You need to include a medical certificate from your doctor or a referral letter with the relevant details.
- In the case of accident compensation claims, you have to include a copy of the ACC to prevent assessment delays.
Get approved fast
You must request preapproval for all medical procedures and treatments at least five working days before the event. A medical certificate or referral letter, stating all the details, must accompany your request. Your pre-approval is only valid for six months. If you choose to pay out of your pocket, you have to submit detailed receipts when you claim.
Taking hands to make it easier for you
When you choose service providers who are members of the ASB’s Healthcare Partnership Programme, you can leave pre-approval to them. They’ll also take care of your claims. All you need to do is focus on your recuperation.
When accidents happen
The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) is the principal insurer of all accident-related treatments in New Zealand. They cover treatment fees and rehabilitation expenses. In the event of injury due to an accident, you have to contact them first. Should they repudiate your claim, you can still claim from ASB. A letter to this effect from ACC will apply.
